A gem of orange wine made with Fiano, Zibbibo, Moscato Giallo, Gewurtztraminer & Greco with grapes coming from Riverland & Clare Valley. The grapes were naturally fermented for two weeks on their skins in stainless steel, without temperature control and using only wild yeast. Then the wine was matured for 12 months in a 3,000-litre oak founder, before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
This results in a complex blend, combining aromatic rose petals, bitter marmalade and tropical fruit notes with a tense acidity and a grippy, sapid finish with hints of smokey black tea. Expect flavours of herbal beeswax combined with pineapple, mango and blood orange. A crowd-friendly but unexpected organic and vegan orange wine.
Winemakers notes: "It's not exactly white wine, nor red - many call it Orange or Amber wine...but we like to call it Esoterico. It's a purposeful blend of three white wine varieties, left on their skins (much like red wine) - to develop rich aromatics and a lean, driven palate."
