After spending 10 months in French oak, this field blend from an average of 90-year-old vines brings intensity and layer. It's floral and citrus on the nose with a lovely lifted hint of honey and vanilla. The palate brings apricot, with soft, nutty oak. Savoury lees and a hint of honeycomb flesh out a backbone of grapefruit acidity. Rounded, long and flavoursome, with judicious flinty, smoky reduction and a saline-edged finish. Super smart vegan wine, super smart buy.
It's a perfect wine for light summer food, but because it has a rounded body, it pairs well with heavier dishes too.
